Itinerary:

Day #1 Guatemala City – Tikal

05:00 AM: Transfer from your hotel in Guatemala City to the Airport (From Antigua Guatemala at 4.15 a.m.)

06:30 AM: Flight departure from Guatemala City to Flores, Petén.

07:45 AM: Upon arrival transfer to one of the most important archaeological sites of the Mayan World, Tikal, its name means “Place of Voices”, built during the Maya Classic Period.Upon arrival at Tikal archaeological site, our guide will show you the layout of the complex of Temples and Acropolis.  Visit to the Complex Q and R, then to the Central Acropolis, Temples I “El Gran Jaguar and the Temple II” Los Mascarones “, regarded as the first and one of the most important within the complex.   Visit to the Lost World.

01:00 PM: Return to the Visitor Center for lunch. After lunch free time will be provided in the park of Tikal.

03:00 PM: Transfer from the park to your selected hotel in Flores or Tikal.

Day #2 Tikal – Guatemala City

Free day to have an optional tour (Yaxha and Topoxte, Ixpanpajul Park, Ceibal, Uaxactun or Lake Peten and Actun Kan Caves)

05:00 PM: Transfer to the airport for flight back to Guatemala City.  Upon arrival transfer to your hotel in Guatemala City.

This program is part of GA’s Mayan Ruins Tours.   The tour can begin from Antigua Guatemala or Guatemala City depending where you are staying.  This tour includes two important UNESCO Heritage sites that historically where involved together.   The first day you will visit Copan in Honduras (very close of the Guatemalan border) and Quirigua the next day.   During this tour you will be able to appreciate the incredible Mayan Architecture, being Copan one of its greatest exponents of this civilization.  In Quirigua you will find the tallest stelae in the Mayan World and you will learn more about the beliefs and history of the mayas.

Day #1 Copán:

07:00 AM: Early departure from Guatemala City to Copan (from Antigua Guatemala at 6:00 AM).

11:00 AM: Upon arrival, visit to the Mayan site of Copan or the “Kingdom of the Sun”, dates from the Maya Classic period (300 to 900 AD) where can still be seen several stone sculptures, specially dedicated to the ruler “18 Rabbits”who was beheaded in Quirigua Guatemala. Ceremonial temples can be seen as of the Inscriptions, the Popol Nah or Casa del Pueblo, the ball game and residential areas.

04:00 PM: Overnight accommodations in selected hotel in Copan.

Day #2 Quirigua:
08:00 AM: Transfer to Quirigua in Guatemala.

11:30 AM: Upon arrival, visit to the archaeological site of Quiriguá known for the tallest stelae in the Mayan World.  The character that stands out is Kak Chan Tiliw Yopa, also known as Heaven Kawak, several of the stelae represent this character is also very important show Stela “C” which talks about the start of the fifth cycle begins Maya some 3,000 years before Christ until 21 December 2012. The end of the Mayan Calendar gives emphasis to the Maya civilization and the world.

02:00 PM: Transfer to Guatemala City or Antigua for overnight accommodations (not included).

05:30 PM: Arrival to Guatemala City (Antigua Guatemala at 7:00 PM).
